Over 90% of drownings happen in Africa and Asia – the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that drowning rates in Sub-Saharan Africa are 10 times higher than in the UK (RNLI)
Globally, the highest drowning rates are among children 1–4 years, followed by children 5–9 years.
Drowning Prevention
In 2023 the World Health Assembly adopted its first-ever resolution on drowning prevention requesting governments and their partners, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), accelerate action on drowning prevention through 2029. (Source)
Playing Our Part
We want to play our part along with our partners in Zambia to provide a swimming pool for our preschool, primary school and secondary school that equips our students for all aspects of life.
