BOWEL CANCER DIAGNOSIS

On the 4th of January 2023, I (Andy) was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer. On the 19th of January, we discovered it was Stage 4 and had spread to my liver and possibly my lung.

On the 9th Feb 23 I started  3 months of intensive Chemotherapy. Sadly my heart reacted to one of the chemo drugs sending it into Atrial Fibrillation, confining me to an armchair pretty much for 4 months.

On the 2nd June I had a Cardio Version, where my heart was stopped and shocked back into rhythm.

I then had surgery on the 10th of July to remove the tumours in my bowel. Sadly, this was not successful, and I had to have an emergency operation to correct that on the 14th of July 23.

As a result of the delay in surgery because of the cardioversion and the lengthy recovery from the emergency operation, the cancer grew, and so I needed another 3-month round of Chemo.

This chemo did not affect my heart, but it did make me sleep for 12-15 hours a day, which was brutal and detrimental to my quality of life.

I then had an unsuccessful Liver Resection on 13th March 24, which resulted in Gaul Badder being removed, but none of the cancer!

So now I am in a situation where the cancer is not curable, but it is treatable.

I am now on a 3rd round of chemo, this time with immunotherapy, which seems to be much more agreeable for my quality of life as I have most of my energy and am able to do 80% of all I need to.

Why The Big C in Me?

Finding out that I had what people often call the BIG C was daunting at first, but I quickly realised that there was something better and more significant at work in me – Jesus Christ!

So, playing on the common phrase THE BIG C, I came up with THE BIG C IN ME – Christ in me the hope of glory!
