Making A Way
Support A Project
Working with our trusted partners WayMaker selects a number of strategic projects that we believe will give the biggest long-term benefit to the most people.
Sponsor a Child through School
Kitwe, Zambia
The average price of a takeaway coffee in the UK is £3.40(Source) and for less than the price of 2 coffees per week you can give a Zambian child a complete, high-quality education in one of Kitwe’s best schools.
£25 Per Month
For just £25/month each child will receive Shoes, School Fees, School Equipment, School Uniform, and Lunch money each school day (breakfast at some schools too), Transport Costs as well as support from our partners – Streetlife
Changing Communities
Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya
WayMaker looks to identify remote communities who are willing to receive the WayMaker Team which is made up of their fellow countrymen who are themselves subsistence farmers who WayMaker have sent to the Foundations for Farming headquarters in Harare, Zimbabwe to be trained as trainers.
If these communities have a sufficient number of subsistence farmers with a minimum plot size of 16 x 39m that are willing to take on the Foundations For Farming methodology then we look to raise sufficient funds to make their desire to be self-sufficient and provide food security for their families and community a reality.
Feasibility Study for New Primary School
Mbeya, Tanzania
The DaySpring Academy has become a benchmark in the academic change in Zambia and so we are looking at replicating that, on a much smaller scale, in Mbeya, Tanzania.
We are looking to raise £375 to carry out a feasibility study which will produce all of the architectural plans and quantity surveys allowing us to determine if we can raise the funds to move forward.
School Swimming Pool
Kitwe, Zambia
The W.H.O.’s Global Report on drowning suggests drowning is one of the top 5 causes of death for people aged 1–14 years.
“Drowning is a serious and neglected public health threat claiming the lives of 372 000 people a year worldwide. More than 90% of these deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries. This death toll is almost two-thirds that of malnutrition and well over half that of malaria – but unlike these public health challenges, there are no broad prevention efforts that target drowning” (Source: WHO)
We want to build a swimming pool at our Zambian School so every one of the 500 children can learn to swim.
School and Community Sports Fields
Kitwe, Zambia
The academic success of the DaySpring Academy has not only meant that the education authority, members of parliament and local government asking WayMaker to build a secondary school, but they have GIVEN US MORE LAND for school and community sports fields.
We are hoping to raise £40,000 through generous donations and a charity auction.
Poultry Production
Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya
WayMaker believe it important for subsistnace farmers not to put all their eggs in one basket as it were. If possible it is really important to diversify and broaden the farmers’ products by adding the sale of chickens to the sale of maze etc.
This is achieved by selling and rearing chickens as part of a cooperative, which then generates an additional flow of cash to supplement their subsistence farming.
Would you help us? we are looking to raise £3,500 to be able to start our first group of 9 wanna-to-be poultry farmers. The beauty of this is that in one year the £3,500 will have been paid back so we can do it all again with a new group. This means your donation will be used over and over again!
