How We Work
WayMaker does not provide emergency handouts or personal gifts.
Instead, we partner in projects where there is:
Clear local leadership and accountability
Evidence of action already taken
Shared responsibility for outcomes
Willingness to work within WayMaker’s governance, reporting, and financial accountability frameworks (Internationally and locally where applicable)
Funding, where appropriate, is normally released in stages and linked to progress and evidence.
Work With WayMaker
Grant and Partnership Applications
WayMaker exists to make a way where there is no way.
We partner with trusted leaders, churches, and organisations to develop projects that bring long-term transformation to vulnerable communities. Our focus is not short-term relief, but sustainable change that strengthens local people, local leadership, and local capacity.
We welcome opportunities to explore projects that align with WayMaker’s charitable objectives, vision, values, and methodologies.
What We Are Looking For
We consider projects that:
Are locally led and locally owned
Address a clearly defined community need
Strengthen communities, churches, or local infrastructure
Demonstrate initiative, action, and commitment before external funding
Have a realistic plan for sustainability beyond initial investment
Are delivered with integrity, accountability, and transparency
We believe the most effective projects grow out of relationship, trust, and shared journey, not one-off transactions.
Our Geographic Focus
WayMaker is a UK registered charity (1199440), based in the United Kingdom. While our funding is raised predominantly in the UK, although not exclusively, our project focus is primarily international.
We work primarily in Africa and former Eastern Europe, partnering with trusted local leaders, churches, and organisations to deliver sustainable, community-led projects. While this reflects our main focus, we are not limited exclusively to these regions.
As a general principle, WayMaker partners with and funds projects outside of the UK, particularly in communities facing significant economic or social challenge.
Projects based within the UK are only considered in exceptional circumstances and where there is a clear alignment with WayMaker’s charitable objectives, vision, values, and methodologies.
Before You Apply
Our process begins with a Project Exploration Questionnaire.
This initial step helps us determine whether a project is suitable to move forward into a full due diligence process.
Please note:
Completing the questionnaire does not guarantee funding
We are unable to progress every request
Where appropriate, a member of our team will be in touch to explore next steps
Ready to Proceed?
If, having read the information above, you believe your project aligns with WayMaker’s objectives, vision, values, geographic focus, and approach, and you meet the criteria outlined on this page, you are welcome to proceed to the next step.
