KEY PARTNERS: StreetLife

Streetlife Zambia is a Christian charity based in Kitwe, led by Lilly Mawila, caring for more than 600 children across Zambia while tackling poverty and the impact of HIV/AIDS. They provide safe term-time homes for boys and girls, run a thriving primary and secondary school called Dayspring Academy, and operate a long-standing street-feeding programme that reaches vulnerable children twice a week. Through child sponsorship, they supply school fees, uniforms, shoes, and essential resources—giving each child the chance to grow up with hope, dignity, and a brighter future.

Every child deserves to be seen, known, and given the chance to dream. If we can reach one, we can impact a generation. That’s why I’m grateful to work with WayMaker — together, we’re making a way for hope.

  • Lilly founded Streetlife Zambia to reach children living on the streets of Ndola. What started with simple meals and conversations has become a powerful ministry offering safety, education, family reintegration, and long-term support.

  • Many children in Zambia can’t afford to go to school — but your sponsorship can change that. Streetlife’s education programme provides school fees, uniforms, books, and encouragement to children who would otherwise be left behind. WayMaker acts as a hub for UK sponsors, with over 40 people already giving monthly to support a child’s future. It’s more than education — it’s dignity, opportunity, and a future full of hope.

  • Lilly runs two dedicated homes — one for boys (House of Joy) and one for girls (House of Hope) — that operate during school terms. These are not orphanages, but safe, nurturing environments for children who would otherwise be living on the streets or in overcrowded, extended family situations. Wherever possible, we work to place orphans with relatives. These homes offer food, love, shelter, and the stability needed to learn, grow, and thrive in school and in life.

  • Streetlife Zambia runs a vital food distribution programme, providing essential supplies to vulnerable children and families in Ndola. These parcels bring practical relief to those facing hunger — especially orphans, widows, and struggling guardians — and often open the door to deeper support, education, and hope. WayMaker is honoured to help make this possible.

Become a Streetlife Partner

Every penny given towards a child’s sponsorship goes directly to that child’s education. Not one penny is used for salaries or administration. That’s a value we’ve held firmly from the very beginning.

However, as Streetlife has grown, so too has the responsibility. Every child must now be registered with Zambian social services, which means Lilly Mawila (a qualified social worker) prepares and maintains profiles, submits reports, and ensures each child receives proper care and oversight. This is alongside providing more than 30,000 meals each year to vulnerable children in Kitwe’s shanty compounds.

While sponsorships will always go directly to the children, there is now an unavoidable need for a small amount of administrative support.

We’re inviting you to join a small group of partners who will stand with us by giving a monthly contribution toward these minimal admin costs—around £400 to £500 per month in total.

Whether you can commit to covering a portion or the whole amount, your partnership will help ensure Streetlife remains sustainable, accountable, and fruitful for years to come.
