GOD PAYS FOR WHAT HE ORDERS
When the fire tore through the church building in Kitwe, Zambia, it left behind a pile of ash and heartbreak. But it also left something else — a promise.
A Word from the Ashes
From the moment the fire started and was extinguished, Joseph, Lilly, their team, the church, and all of us have carried a deep conviction: from these ashes, God will bring forth something beautiful. This isn’t just blind hope — it’s anchored in Scripture and stirred by the Spirit.
“To give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes…”
Isaiah 61:3
As we prayed, Isaiah 58:12 echoed loudly in our hearts:
“Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins… you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls…”
And so it began — not just a building project, but a prophetic moment. This is a chance to raise up ancient foundations, to create something that doesn’t just replace what was lost, but exceeds it. This isn’t just about bricks and mortar. It’s about mission and mercy. A place for the church, yes — but also a beacon for the city. A hub for hope.
But the Costs?
Naturally, some will look at the cost and raise an eyebrow. That’s fair. But maybe the shock comes from imagining we’re just rebuilding what was lost. We’re not.
We’re building back better.
Perspective helps. The school WayMaker built on the same site cost in the region of £250,000–£300,000. And that was a few years ago, before inflation moved the goalposts. So yes, it’s going to cost. But here’s the question that really matters:
Did God say to do it?
If He did, the cost is His concern.
And here’s the thing: the only difference between £44,000 and £440,000 is a zero. We don’t have either. But to God, that extra zero is nothing. Literally nothing.
If we’re going to need a miracle either way,
I’d rather believe God for what He’s said
than settle for what feels safe.
Faith doesn’t calculate based on balance sheets. Faith listens for the voice of God — and then acts.
We believe He has spoken.
We believe He will provide.
Because God always pays for what He orders.
